To mark this special occasion, the NIBM will be held in combination with the NICCT India Business Award 2010 Ceremony the same evening. The Indian economy is developing rapidly and its growth performance is impressive. Soon the country will be one of the largest economies in the world. This has not gone unnoticed by the rest of the world. A growing number of Dutch companies are also tapping into the Indian growth market potential.

This year’s NIBM will focus on a number of issues that are crucial to entrepreneurs for actually realising their ambitions in the vast Indian market. Eminent Dutch and Indian speakers will give their views on the way India fits into the growth strategies of companies and outline critical factors for success, as well as discuss the effects global expansion of corporate India may have on Dutch companies. Furthermore, insights will be given into the most important market trends in India, with its growing middle class, into communication and product alignment to the Indian market and also into major financial and tax issues.

The Netherlands India Business Meet 2010 will be followed by a networking reception and dinner during which the second NICCT India Business Award will be presented to a company that has made an outstanding contribution to the Indian-Dutch commercial relations.

Attendance of the symposium and the award ceremony – both conducted in English – is free of charge. We are preparing to make this event a great success and look forward to welcoming you on 16 September

Workshops
1. Expansion Challenges for SMEs
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) often lack the resources possessed by Multinational Corporations (MNCs) to enter the promising Indian market. During this workshop issues of special interest to SMEs will be addressed, such as interesting economic sectors, visas and work permit procedures, differences in business culture and ethics, search for appropriate business partners (joint venture partners, suppliers and financiers), financial support and the importance of local management.

2. Financial Issues and Solutions
This workshop will focus on a number of general issues in the field of finance and taxation. Topics such as commercial finance, private equity funding, credit management, currency risk mitigation and trade financing will be addressed by financial experts. In the field of taxation, the different types of instruments that Indian companies can issue to foreign companies will be highlighted. Finally, information will be provided on the new direct tax code and specific attractive features such as Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and R&D incentives.

3. Building Brand Equity in India
The liberalisation of the Indian market in combination with growth of the Indian economy offers excellent alternatives to Dutch entrepreneurs for significant value creation and to compensate for the declining markets in Europe. During the decision-making process to venture into India, a pivotal choice is whether to build a strong brand in India on your own or together with a (joint venture) partner. This workshop will focus on a number of general issues with regard to the creation of a brand strategy for India. Why would you like to build your own brand in India? How relevant is it to have an Indian partner? How do you start the brand building process in India?
